Bicentenary celebration in collaboration with the Robert Stephenson Trust. \nAbout ‘The Stanhope & Tyne Railroad Company’\, by Rob Langham\, author\nOpening in 1834\, the Stanhope & Tyne Railroad ran over some of Durham’s wildest landscape and used a mixture of gravity\, stationary engines with wire ropes\, horses and steam locomotives to move wagons along its length.
